How the touch of your hand...

MPs were collecting their cumbersome boxes of receipts from the Vote Office yesterday. They will be published for public consumption in July.

One Labour MP started to flick through his, and within minutes had found four receipts that belonged to Conservative MPs, and one which belonged to another Labour MP.

Looking at the huge boxes, which have taken millions of pounds to collate, one couldn't help wondering: how valid will this process be if all MPs find their boxes contaminated with the receipts of others?

Will they all have to go back and start again?

Sitting in the Pugin Room last night with a visiting constituent, a very senior Labour Minister came over to me, took hold of my hand and said "Can I say sorry on behalf of all those of us who are decent?". He was so lovely, he almost made me cry. He told me his own particular story of when he had been the victim of the same machine and how he had dealt with it.

There is no love for Brown amongst Labour MPs. They are angry at how he has destroyed the Labour party and what he has reduced it to.

Exiting the voting lobby a little later, another Minister motioned for me to follow him around the back of the Speaker's chair.
"Watch yourself love", he said. "You are public enemy No 1. You inflicted a lot of damage on No10 and they are out for revenge. Watch out for the Sunday Mirror, don't talk to them." He then squeezed my hand and left.

Now I really feel like crying!

You have shown great courage throughout smeargate but it's no time for the Kleenex. I would instead invest in some Kevlar body armour or failing that half a dozen hunky minders.

I hope the Sunday Mirror don't try to dig up every little bit of tittle-tattle, but if they do, I think people in general are savvy enough to see it for what it is... Just another Labour attempt to divert attention away from themselves and their sleaziness and mismanagement of the economy. You seem like a decent MP so I wish you well and hope your litigation is successful. They can't get away with that type of thing.

Who reads the Sunday Mirror anyway? Labour voters, who cares!

I don't believe that only Labour supporters exclusively read the Sunday/Daily Mirror. Besides, it's the Sun, Telegraph, Daily Mail et al readers that will read it as well.

Kevin Maguire and that rag of a paper are just another Brown orifice spouting rubbish. Ooops, perhaps I should re-word that to say they're just another mouthpiece for Brown and this incompetent 'government'. Ignore it. If they do print anything, it just demonstrates that although McBride has been muzzled, the Labour spin and lies machine is alive and well.

Nadine, the whole country is now at the satge where Brown could say the sky is blue and no one, absolutely no one, would believe him. And after all, if you've nothing to hide, you've nothing to fear.

It's a spoiling exercise. Plenty of contamination to come.

Labour are despicable and disgusting. I've never been a supporter, but I have also never hated them in the way I do now.
