Boundary Vote
Posted Tuesday, 29 January 2013 at 17:33

I have just voted for the Boundary Commission’s proposals to reduce the number of MPs in Parliament and lower the cost of politics. It is no secret that this would have had an unfortunate implication for me personally but I voted for the proposals anyway.

I did this because I agree with the principle of equal sized constituencies where each vote is worth the same. I did this because I made a commitment when I stood on the Conservative Manifesto prior to the election in 2010.

What I didn’t do was turn my back on a commitment I had made when it became tough personally. I didn’t break my promise with the electorate or tear up agreements made when the Coalition was formed in 2010. That behaviour was left to the shameless Lib Dems.

They would have lost 6/7 seats if the Boundary Review had been passed. It looks like those could soon be all they have left. They saved their own skins for now, but bring on 2015.
