Talk has been very much around - will the Prime Minister announce a re shuffle on Friday in order to deflect from disastrous Euro election results to be announced on Sunday, or will the cabinet resign en masse?

If they resign the plotters will win and there will follow the indignity of Gordon Brown’s removal and another leadership election.

Looks like Jacqui Smith may have given us a clue today which may mean that Gordon Brown has only days left as Prime Minister.

It will be down to Harman or Johnson. Whichever, the public won’t be in the mood for another non elected Prime Minister so a General Election could be on the cards as early as July.

Nadine, just a thought. We all know that Brown is not going to concede to Cameron's call for an election. But what would happen if the whole Conservative party decided to resign their seats and put themselves up for "by-election" a la David Davis? Surely there's no way that Brown could just ignore it as a stunt, nor possibly could the Queen allow parliament to continue.......

Love the David Van Day quote in the Tuesday Citizen: "I don't know much about Mid-Beds and I don't know much about poilitics but it can't be rocket science." Now that's the kind of brilliant, dedicated person we need to lead us into the nest disaster! Don't lose too much sleep Nadine.

Nadine, it is not just the implosion of the Labour party that is required before the Country is guaranteed good governance in future, it is the shake-up of every political party that is needed. You were on the right track when you questioned to what agenda was the Telegraph exposure of MPs' abuse of the expense system being orchestrated but, very wrong in your conclusion. The intent is to destroy the current political elitism and create a level playing field for the little people to take control of politics again, you know realise that distant dream where if politics was about anything it was ideals and policies with sharply differing views being openly aired and argued, not the cosy "gentlemens' club" where self advancement is the current order of the day. If you doubt my analysis I suggest you read, "The Triumph of the Political Class" by, Peter Oborne, I suspect the Barclay twins have and they liked its conclusions no less than I.

Your comment on Radio 4 a week or so ago about MPs being told by the authorities that the allowances were a "right", should have caused a storm. It didn't! Why not?

Do you actually understand how our electoral system works? The Prime Minister is never elected. It's the party. When will the Tories recognise this and propose an alternative system rather than merely baying from the benches?
