My heart goes out to Greg Barker. He is a lovely man, who last Christmas asked me to help him buy his wife's Christmas present. I have seen him with his son and his wife, and there is no doubt in my mind that he loves them all very much.
 
I am sure that whatever has happened in his life that it wasn't pre meditated and that there are many more things he would rather do than hurt his family.
 
I have sent him a message of support and I hope all of my colleagues do the same. Politics can be a lonely business and Greg must feel as though he is in some sort of hell right now. His private life is his business, his competence as an MP is that of his electorate, everyone else should back off.
